Why This Ride Is a Big Deal

Disney describes Rise of the Resistance as "an attraction on a scale that is impressive, most impressive," and the line is more than marketing. The experience deliberately throws out the usual separation between queue, pre-show and ride, blending them into one seamless, holistically themed journey. It is counted among the longest attraction experiences Disney has ever made, and one of the most technologically advanced, weaving together multiple ride systems so the story never visibly pauses for you to board or disembark.↗↗↗

The goal, in the words of the Imagineers behind it, was to put fans at the center of the story rather than in the audience. They describe it as a true 360-degree attraction, where blaster bolts seem to whiz through midair, holograms flicker to life, and no matter which way you turn you are part of the action. The Story, Beat by Beat

Your mission begins in the real world of the land. As you wind through low stone walls, timeworn pillars and tight forest corridors toward the Resistance encampment, military comms chatter crackles around you. In a makeshift briefing room, a hologram of Rey appears with a warning transmission: the Resistance base on Batuu has been compromised, and you must flee to reach General Organa's secret, off-planet rendezvous. The cheerful little droid BB-8 is on hand as you are welcomed into the cause.↗↗

You board an Intersystem Transport Ship and feel the lift-off as Poe Dameron's black X-wing, Black One, roars past outside. Before you can jump to lightspeed, the transport is snagged in the tractor beam of a Star Destroyer and hauled into its cavernous hangar bay, where a line of some 50 stormtroopers and a docked TIE fighter stare you down. A Mon Calamari Resistance officer named Lieutenant Bek, created specifically for the attraction, takes over as your guide, and you flee on foot through the warship's corridors past towering turbolaser cannons, with First Order officers and a very angry Kylo Ren hunting you through the Force.↗↗

The escape climaxes in a sequence that is part trackless ride and part simulator. You board an eight-passenger First Order Fleet Transport whose controls are hijacked by a reprogrammed R5-series astromech droid, racing through the Star Destroyer before the vehicle is sent plummeting back toward Batuu in a stomach-drop of turbulence, explosions and a rough crash-landing amid a battle with AT-AT walkers. A-1000 animatronic figures of the film characters give the whole confrontation an uncannily lifelike edge, with scenes and dialogue newly recorded by the original cast, including Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Domhnall Gleeson.↗↗

What to Notice as You Go

Much of the ride is a walk-through, so the set design does as much work as the vehicles. The hangar bay's intimidating wall of stormtroopers is one of the most photographed moments in all of Walt Disney World, and it genuinely reads differently in person than on a screen. Keep an eye on the little astromech piloting your transport: he is reactive to everything happening around you, so where he "looks" hints at where your ride car will swing next.↗↗

Because the trackless vehicles can glide and pivot in any direction, no two guests quite see the action the same way. Disney's own advice for first-timers is to let some of it be a surprise: the scale is such that repeat rides keep revealing different angles of the battle, the bridge confrontation, and the AT-AT sequence, which is part of what keeps the line long.↗

Know Before You Go

The attraction sits inside Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disney's Hollywood Studios and shares the land's signature thrill warnings: it is dark, loud, with flashing lights, explosions, a brief simulated drop with turbulence and angles, sharp turns and momentary spinning as the trackless cars change direction. It is rated a thrill ride with small drops, so guests who are sensitive to motion, height or sudden loud effects should weigh that. As a general park guideline, the ride asks that you be in good health and that expectant mothers skip it.↗

On the logistics side, there is a 40-inch (102 cm) height requirement and children under age 7 must ride with someone age 14 or older. The experience runs about 15 minutes end to end, and you will be on your feet for much of it through the walk-through sections. A wait is normal even outside peak season, so building the ride into your day early is wise; Disney's own listing flags that it "usually has a wait" and recommends securing tickets in advance. If you use the paid line-skip system, note that this attraction is typically offered as a Single Pass rather than the standard Multi Pass.↗↗

Accessibility and Rider Swap

The land and the ride are reachable for guests using mobility devices, and Disney lists wheelchair-accessible parking, entrances and restrooms at the attraction. The first walk-through sections and the transport segment can be navigated in a wheelchair or ECV, though guests must transfer out of their device for the seated ride-car portion. That car is stationary at boarding with a low step (roughly 4 to 6 inches) and a side-opening door that allows a transfer to a seat at about chair height, held in place with a fabric belt similar to Soarin'. If a transfer isn't possible, an alternate exit is available just before the boarding area. Some riders have noted that staying on a mobility device during the rocking first transport room can be uncomfortable, so plan accordingly.↗↗

Rider Swap is generally available so adults traveling with a child who cannot or does not want to ride can take turns without the whole party standing in line twice. Guests using a DAS accommodation can speak to a Cast Member at the standby entrance to be directed to the return-time or Lightning Lane process.↗

Pairing It With Galaxy's Edge

Rise of the Resistance rewards a visit shared with the rest of the land. The queue and exit flow through Black Spire Outpost, where you can build a custom lightsaber, commission a droid, or take a seat at Oga's Cantina between rides. Pairing it with Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run nearby lets you spend a full afternoon steeped in Batuu, making the wait for this headline attraction feel like part of a larger adventure rather than time lost.↗↗
