We stayed here for 22 nights in 2105, a swim up 1 bed apartment. The apartment is spacious, well equipped in the main, kitchen is not large but adequate for 2 - 4 people. Bathroom is nice, great shower. Lounge is well appointed, wide screen TV. Outdoor patio/covered dining are us nice. Private deck, small garden.|The pool is nice, not heated but warm enough to swim in June. Our apartment had an electric BBQ, ok but not the easiest to cook on. Beds are very comfortable.|I need to mention here the brilliant reception team of Eddie, Valeria and Estelle, friendly, helpful, professional, literally nothing was too much trouble for them, they are a major plus for Mantra, you are lucky to have them working for you.|Some area for improvement, all about the apartment, it is getting a little tired, bathroom floor tiles need a deep clean with steam mop or better still replacing. Front door is badly marked and scratched, needs a paint. The cutlery needs to be replaced with a full matching set, more than 1 large coffee mug, a full set of drinks glasses also. Some of the pans need replacement. |Points to note, at this time of the year there is very little sun on the deck area, obviously no ones fault and for some this will be a plus.|Overall a comfortable apartment for a longer stay, 2 min walk to Coles and you are right in the heart of the centre of Port Douglas. Loads of bars and restaurants on your doorstep. The beach is 500m away an easy flat walk.|Value for money, it is not cheap, but I think overall considering this is Port Douglas it is reasonable value for money.

Great spot, staff lovely and helpful. Room was great expect the shower was very dirty and yuck in the corners, looked like black mould, not great with a 2 year old! But other than that great. A bit hard with 4 flights of stairs with a pram and child, wish the lift had access to all floors.

Great location, staff were fantastic and helpful but thats as far as it goes. |Room smelt mouldy and made our clothes smell, had to leave doors and fans on to circulate the air. Also made you cough once leaving the rooms coughing stopped. Room needs to be updated and carpet replaced. Pool water cold and 1 spa not working beach was warmer to swim in. If you have bad hips or knees there are lots of steps so when booking ask for a room that has lift access. |We will not be back.

We were disappointed that we didn't get the room that we paid for - it did not match the advertised pictures and was smaller than advertised. The pools and spas were too cold to swim in and one of the spas was not working. The room was very dark and a big wall blocked our view. There was not enough cutlery for 2 people and there was no sink to wash it in. The blinds were stained and the pools had stains and chipped tiles. It was in need of a renovation and a good clean.

This is one of the most dated, dilapidated and disappointing properties I have ever stayed at. It was also very dirty and even the most basic cleaning is clearly not being done. On a positive note, the reception staff were absolutely lovely and check in was very efficient and easy. Location wise, you are right in the middle of Macrossan Street and conveniently within walking distance of everything, including the beach, supermarket, marina and Rex Smeal Park. Free parking is provided, which is an excellent perk in this day and age, as is the free washer and dryer, with every second room sharing a small laundry area. Unfortunately, that is where the positives end. The property has obviously not been properly maintained for many years. It seems like there are more facilities that are broken or out of order than there are serviceable and usable. Some of the issues we experienced included: • On arrival, the room had an overpowering stench of bleach. It was so bad that we had to open all of the doors and windows and go out for a couple of hours. • The rooms are very dirty and even the most basic cleaning has not been performed. Moving the bed revealed years of dust, hair and cobwebs, as well as what looked like mouse or rat droppings. The mattress had suspect stains on it. • The shower smelled musty and had mould in the silicone. There must have been an exhaust fan at some point but it's been boarded over rather than repaired or replaced. • The floor tiles and balcony both needed a proper mop and there were cobwebs on the ceiling of both the room and balcony. • Not even the most basic crockery was provided, apart from two cheap plastic Kmart bowls. There were no proper plates or other basic items, so even eating takeaway food in the room was impossible. No onsite restaurant or food effectively means your only practical option is to eat out at restaurants. • There is a barbecue in the pool area but with no plates supplied in the room, it is hardly a usable option unless guests are expected to bring or buy their own crockery. • The in room jacuzzi had an “out of order” sign on it which had clearly been there long enough to become covered in dust and cobwebs, as was the inside of the jacuzzi. Despite this, the room is still advertised and sold as a “spa room”. • The balcony had an outdoor kitchen but the area where the barbecue used to be had simply been boarded over rather than the barbecue being repaired or replaced. • Not once during our week long stay was the room cleaned or the linen and towels changed. • The room was advertised as having heating and cooling but only has cooling. • Not only was the in room jacuzzi out of order but so was the jacuzzi in the communal pool area. • The property advertises two pools, with one pool and the jacuzzi supposedly heated. Neither pool appeared to be heated and as mentioned the communal jacuzzi didn't work. • The property also needs to clearly state that it is not disabled friendly. There are at least two sets of stairs to navigate between reception and the rooms due to many different levels. There are lifts from the car park to reception and from the Macrossan Street level to the rooms but in between are two sets of stairs, one of them approximately 20 to 30 steps high. It was a pain carrying luggage even as an able bodied person and would be extremely difficult for anyone with mobility issues. Unfortunately, I did not read the reviews before booking this property. Had I done so, I would have seen that most of the issues above had already been raised by previous guests. The owner or manager appears to acknowledge the complaints in their responses but nothing ever seems to be done to actually resolve or address them as some of the complaints go back years. The property is now at the stage where it needs a complete refurbishment to bring it up to a reasonable modern standard and address the very long list of broken and unavailable facilities. It was extremely disappointing and very overpriced for what was provided. I would not recommend staying here.

Location was good next to Cole’s in macrossan street. Room was upstairs and you could not see anything but the sky and trees. It was soulless, not one print on the walls. On arrival the furniture was filthy and it had to be spot cleaned but really needed a complete clean. Room was very large. Considering how much we paid we did not think this apartment was value for money. A welcome drink was left in the fridge which was two small bottles of Schweppes lime and bitters, very cheap considering all the other mantras provide a bottle of good wine. Overall very disappointing.|Management need to oversee the cleaning to ensure an acceptable standard is maintained for guests who would expect nothing less when paying such high rates.

The only bright spot about the Mantra Heritage is the location, central to the main town. The biggest gripe I have is that this hotel does not service the rooms unless you have stayed 8 days, I think that is disgusting and explains why everything looks dirty and tired. You do not know about this until after you check in, and receive their instruction sheet. They need to really look at their model of business because it is really poor for a customer service operation. The Mantra Heritage is a disgrace to the ALL group, which I belong to. I will not book another Mantra. We're booked for 3 nights but left a day early even though we get no refund. This place is a very poor option for travellers that want somewhere central in Port Douglas. Having read the reviews I find that the hotel has for years said they use reviews to improve the guest experience, yet the same problems continue to pop up and nothing seems to be done. The room was filthy, I have taken pictures of the mould in the bathroom. The floor was sticky and dirty, and we were just horrified. The staff we saw did not want to know and avoided contact. I just cannot find anything positive to say about this hotel.

Constant extremely noisy construction - no relaxing holiday here. Back cushions on sofa missing. Toaster pretty dodgy. Place very tired. Only positives were that the staff were nice and rooms were clean.
