The best time to visit Sydney is from September to November, when spring brings mild temperatures (21-23°C) and the lowest humidity (66-68%) with fewer rain days. March to May is also pleasant, with warm days cooling into comfortable evenings. Summer (December to February) is hot and humid with frequent rain, while winter (June to August) is cooler but still mild, with the least rainfall.
For first-time visitors, Circular Quay is ideal, with the Opera House and Harbour Bridge nearby; The Langham Sydney and Shangri-La Hotel Sydney are there. The CBD suits those wanting easy access to transport and dining, with options like Little National Hotel Sydney. Darling Harbour is great for families, near attractions like SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium, with Hotel Kith Darling Harbour. Bondi suits beach lovers, with QT Bondi as a base.
Start with the Sydney Opera House, an architectural icon on the harbour. Walk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge for city and water views. Stroll through the Royal Botanic Garden, a green escape near the water. Visit Darling Harbour for its waterfront atmosphere and attractions. See marine life at SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium, and relax in Hyde Park, the city's oldest park.
You can take full-day tours to the Blue Mountains, known for dramatic cliffs, eucalyptus forests, and Scenic World. The Hunter Valley offers wine tasting at renowned vineyards. A wildlife tour takes you to see wombats and kangaroos in their natural habitat. If you prefer staying in the city, a guided tour covers Sydney's main sights and lesser-known spots.
Plan 4 to 5 days. In 3 days you can see the Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Royal Botanic Garden, Darling Harbour, and Hyde Park. Add a fourth day for Luna Park, Sydney Tower Eye, and Mrs Macquarie's Chair. If you take a Blue Mountains or Hunter Valley day trip, add one more day.
