We are visiting from Australia and cycling across Tanzania. We had a lovely stay here. Very peaceful, excellent staff stylish and comfortable rooms. The food at dinner was outstanding and they were able to cater to our food allergies. We had a nice breakfast. There was safe storage for our bicycles. I left my phone charger and leads in the room, they called once they had found them after we left. I missed the call but later they brought the leads to me at our next lodge- amazing customer service. I highly recommend this hotel.

Had a lovely 4 day stay, post safari at Dan Stan and this is a fantastic place to stay. We wanted a place away from the bustle of Arusha and this meets requirements without being too far away from the town. Really good value for money and the food was excellent at the restaurant with great choice of local food and great for a vegetarian like me. Rooms were great, we had one with a view of Mount Meru. They have nice gardens and a games area, perfect place to relax. The staff were all so helpful and polite, I highly recommend!

The staff was super friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. My family and I booked a stay for my grandma’s 40th death anniversary, the staff made the stay very comfortable and accommodating to me and my family. We are forever grateful for the hospitality. Definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a place to stay in Arusha

It's a beautiful getaway in a serene natural environment. On clear days, enjoy a breathtaking view of Mount Meru from the upstairs balcony. Gentle songs of birds in the garden will sooth you as you inhale cool, crisp air and embrace the calm around you while sipping your coffee.

My (adult) son and I visited for three days before our African Safari, and returned for two nights following the Safari. Every staff member was so helpful, friendly and kind. |Accommodating our every need, arranging drivers and a one day, last minute visit to Arusha National Park before our big Safari started. Rooms are attractive and comfortable, with great views of Mt Meru. Location is just outside the busy Arusha city, setting in a lovely garden. A fire pit is lit in the evening to enjoy, the restaurant is very accommodating to special requests. Son is vegan and staff remembered his needs. A wonderful bargain for the price and service. We will be so happy to return in the future!

Where can I eat near Dan Stam Hotel?

The hotel's own restaurant and snack bar serve African, French, Indian, and international dishes, with vegetarian and vegan options often mentioned by guests. For a change of scene, Mama's Place and Leons Garden are nearby and well-rated. The Boma - Rocco's Kitchen offers Italian food, while Kilimanjaro Food Court and Amani Restaurant are other local choices. The Famous Pub (kwa Zimarohoo) is a casual spot for drinks and bites. You can also walk to a busy authentic market twice a week, as noted by guests, for local food stalls.

What is the area around Dan Stam Hotel like?

Dan Stam Hotel sits in the quiet Olmotoni neighborhood on SOS Children Street, just outside Arusha's center. The area is calm and green, with a garden and views of Mount Meru on clear days. You are about 7 km from Arusha Airport and roughly 9 km from the city center, so a taxi is the usual way to reach downtown. Nearby, Sakina supermarket and Sables Square Shopping Village are about 7 km away. The hotel's own restaurant and bar offer convenient dining on site, and a local market is within walking distance twice a week.

How do I get to Dan Stam Hotel from the airport or main train station?

From Arusha Airport, about 7 km away, the hotel offers an airport shuttle you can arrange ahead. A taxi or ride-hailing service is also a straightforward option for the short drive. If you arrive by train, the main station is in Arusha city, roughly 9 km from the hotel, so a taxi or pre-booked transfer is the practical way to reach the Sakina neighborhood. The hotel is on SOS Children Street, off Nairobi Road, and drivers in Arusha know the area well. For Kilimanjaro International Airport, about 48-54 km away, a pre-booked transfer or taxi is the most direct choice.

What's there to do near Dan Stam Hotel in the evening?

In the evening, you can relax at the hotel's own bar and snack bar, or enjoy a meal at its restaurant. The Famous Pub (kwa Zimarohoo) is a nearby spot for a drink, and The Boma - Rocco's Kitchen offers Italian dining in the Olorieni area. For a livelier night out, the city center is about 9.5 km away, where you'll find more bars and restaurants around the Arusha Clock Tower. A taxi or ride-hailing service can get you there in about 15 minutes. Back at the hotel, the garden and fire pit are a calm place to unwind after a day of exploring.

Is Dan Stam Hotel a good base for exploring Arusha?

Dan Stam Hotel sits in a quiet, green area outside central Arusha, so it is a calm base rather than a walk-to-everything spot. The Cultural Heritage Centre is 8.1 km away and Arusha Clock Tower 9.5 km, both a short drive or taxi ride. Meserani Snake Park (20.9 km) and Arusha National Park (23.2 km) are farther, so plan a car or tour for those. The hotel’s own restaurant and bar make meals easy after day trips. For exploring the city’s markets and sights, a taxi or ride-hailing gets you there comfortably. It works well if you prefer a peaceful retreat with nature nearby.
