Frequently asked questions about Arusha

When is the best time to visit Arusha?

The best time to visit Arusha is from June to October, when rain is scarce and days are mild, with highs around 21-27°C. September and October are the driest months, with only 7 rain days each. The long rains from April to May are the wettest stretch, with April seeing 25 rain days and high humidity. The short rains in November and December are lighter but still bring frequent showers. For the most comfortable weather, aim for the dry season between June and October.

Which area should I stay in in Arusha?

Stay in the central Uzunguni area for easy access to the Clock Tower and restaurants; the Gran Melia Arusha and Kibo Palace Hotel Arusha are there. The Sekei area, near the Arusha-Taveta Road, suits those wanting a quieter base, with the Mount Meru Hotel. For a greener stay, the Tengeru Road area offers lodges like Arusha Serena Hotel and Lake Duluti Lodge, close to the national park. Kaloleni, around Somali Road, is a practical choice with the seven skies hotel.

What are the must-see attractions in Arusha?

Arusha Clock Tower marks the city center and is a handy landmark for orientation. Cultural Heritage Centre offers a look at local art, crafts, and history. Arusha National Park is a short drive away, with wildlife, forests, and views of Mount Meru. Meserani Snake Park is a good stop to see reptiles and learn about them.

What day trips can I take from Arusha?

Day trips from Arusha go to Ngorongoro Crater for its wildlife and scenery, Tarangire National Park for elephants and baobabs, and Materuni Waterfalls with a coffee tour and Kikuletwa Hot Springs. A Kilimanjaro day hike offers mountain views, while Serval Wildlife Sanctuary and a Maasai village tour combine wildlife and culture.

How many days do I need in Arusha?

Plan 3 to 4 days. In 2 days you can see the Arusha Clock Tower, Cultural Heritage Centre, and Arusha National Park. Add a third day for a full-day trip to Ngorongoro Crater or Tarangire National Park. If you also want a Kilimanjaro day hike, add a fourth day.

Masailand Safari Lodge was one of the highlights of our Tanzania journey. The lodge offers breathtaking views, beautiful surroundings, and an authentic safari atmosphere that perfectly captures the spirit of Africa. The rooms were comfortable and clean, the food was delicious, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Waking up to the stunning landscape and ending the day with unforgettable sunsets made the experience truly special. If you’re looking for a place that combines comfort, hospitality, and a genuine connection with Tanzania’s natural beauty, Masailand Safari Lodge is an excellent choice. Highly recommended.

Although it was a very quick stay, the lodge was amazing. The room was a very spacious suite with a full supply of hot water. The breakfast was delicious. The views at the pool were gorgeous. I wish I would have been able to stay longer but my itinerary didn’t allow it. Most of all, the staff were very kind, accommodating, and welcoming.

The staff were so attentive, ontop of everything and very polite and kind. Gave a special feeling to the place. The tranquil location with terrace mountain view. Only a short hop to Arusha center or easy pickup for safaris.

We had a very nice and cozy lodge, the employees put roses on the bed and the room was very clean. We had dinner in the restaurant and the buffet had everything you would wish for. Fresh barbecued meat and all the side dishes were present. Lucas was our server and made us feel home and comfortable, not too pushy but he was there when you needed him. Would stay again if we are ever in arusha again.

This property is well-suited for both business and leisure travelers. It offers scenic views of Mount Meru, creating a serene and pleasant atmosphere. The upper rooms are spacious, well-appointed, and equipped with working desks, making them ideal for guests who need a comfortable workspace. Daily housekeeping is also a notable advantage, ensuring consistently clean and well-maintained rooms. Located within the Maasai community, the lodge provides a peaceful setting away from traffic noise, offering guests a more authentic and tranquil experience. Service exceeded expectations, with staff delivering a high level of hospitality and attentiveness throughout the stay. The swimming pool and gym are valuable additions to the property, offering extra comfort and convenience, even though they tend to be underutilized.

If you are looking for a comfortable, budget-friendly resort feel in Arusha, Masailand Safari & Lodge is a fantastic choice. The highlight of this property is the immense kindness of the team and the peaceful, relaxed atmosphere. The cottage-style setup gives it a great natural vibe, and the rooms are large with fantastic private balconies overlooking the valley and Mount Meru. The hotel is a bit older and has a rustic feel, but everything functions beautifully, and the Wi-Fi is strong. It's located just a short drive from the main road in the Sakina neighborhood, which keeps it wonderfully quiet at night. Terrific food, excellent pool, and an overall great launchpad for exploring northern Tanzania.
