Clouds Boutique Guesthouse

May, June, September, and October are the most pleasant months, with warm highs between 22°C and 28°C and low rainfall. July and August are the driest but the hottest, reaching 31°C, and also the busiest. November is the rainiest, with 15 rain days, while January and December are cooler and damp. The famous Dubrovnik Summer Festival runs in July and August, but the heat and crowds make shoulder months more comfortable for exploring.

Stay in the Old Town or nearby Ploče if you want to be right by the walls, with easy access to sights like Pile Gate and Lovrjenac Fortress; hotels like Hotel Excelsior and Grand Villa Argentina sit here. The Lapad peninsula is a calmer choice, close to beaches and promenades, with options like Boutique Hotel Kazbek and Hotel Dubrovnik Palace. The waterfront area, near hotels like Royal Princess, suits those who prefer sea views and a more spread-out setting.

Walk the Dubrovnik City Walls for the full sweep of the old town and sea. Ride the cable car up for the classic view over the rooftops and islands. Lovrjenac Fortress stands apart on its rock, with dramatic scenes from Game of Thrones. Pile Gate is the grand entrance to the old town, and Rector's Palace shows the city's historic heart. Minčeta Tower crowns the walls with the best vantage point.

Day trips from Dubrovnik head to Montenegro, where Kotor and Perast offer walled towns and bay views. Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina impresses with its old bridge and Ottoman quarter, while Kravice Waterfalls add a natural stop. A cruise to the Elaphite Islands brings you to nearby islands for swimming and relaxed exploring. Add an extra day to your stay for any of these trips.

Plan 3 to 4 days to see the Old Town and its walls, the cable car, Lovrjenac Fortress, Pile Gate, Rector's Palace and Minčeta Tower at a comfortable pace. If you want to add a day trip to Montenegro, Mostar or the Elaphite Islands, set aside one extra day. Two days feels rushed for the main sights plus time to wander the coast.
