The hotel has direct access to the canal, which is great for walks, but it's also just a stone's throw away from the old town. The service was excellent, as was the atmosphere – we like it so modern. Breakfast was plentiful and offered good, healthy alternatives, but the small kitchenette is also nice, as we like to prepare something small for ourselves after an outing or enjoy a coffee or tea. The Carrefour supermarket for groceries is also only a 5-minute walk away. It's also good that the rooms are not cleaned and the linen changed every day, which we very much support from a sustainability perspective.

Disappointing stay at Adagio Aparthotel Ghent We were really looking forward to our stay at Adagio Aparthotel Ghent, but unfortunately it fell well below expectations. The hotel has a lot of potential, and the reception area is clean, modern and inviting. However, the outside of the hotel and surrounding areas are quite run down, which doesn’t give a particularly good first impression. The dining options were very disappointing. There was no pizza available and only a very limited selection of food. It was quite clear that the hotel must previously have had a much more extensive menu and actually made more of the food themselves. With very little around the hotel unless you’re prepared to walk around 25 minutes into the centre of Ghent, I feel the hotel is really missing an opportunity to encourage guests to dine there. The bar experience depended entirely on who was serving. The two young men working one evening clearly didn’t seem to know how to make the drinks properly. One attempted to make an Amaretto Sour but had to remake it after his colleague pointed out that it was wrong. It’s already a fairly short drink, but it was served with barely half a glass. The following evening, two women were working and the difference was huge — they were excellent, made a lovely Amaretto Sour and clearly knew what they were doing. Unfortunately, the biggest disappointment was the cleanliness of our room. Perhaps I have high standards, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect the floors around the beds, particularly where children are sleeping, to be free from thick dust. The room felt as though it had received a very quick wipe rather than a proper, thorough clean. We also had to ask for extra towels as there weren’t enough provided for our stay. To make matters worse, the cleaner had left a used, dirty and unpleasant-smelling sponge around the sink. This really reinforced our concerns about the standard of cleanliness. On our first day, after a long day of travelling, I had a shower only to discover that the drain was completely blocked with hair. The water quickly flooded the bathroom and my husband had to unclog the drain himself. There was also visible mould around the shower, which made it very clear that the bathroom isn’t receiving the deep clean it needs. If cleanliness isn’t a major concern for you, then perhaps this hotel may be suitable. However, for us, it was a major issue and completely spoiled our stay. Overall, it’s a real shame because the hotel has so much potential, but the lack of cleanliness and the inconsistencies in service really let it down. We certainly won’t be staying here again, and to be honest, we were more than happy to leave today and move on to what we’re hoping will be a much cleaner hotel.

We had a very pleasant stay, and the staff were extremely helpful and kind. After we had left Ghent, they helped us receive our lost jacket and arrange for it to be forwarded to our hotel in Paris. We received the package safely, and we truly appreciate all their assistance and communication throughout the process. Thank you so much to the team for going above and beyond to help us!

We (couple) stayed here for 2 nights last weekend and had a very pleasant stay. The room was very clean, reception & bar people friendly and the location is perfect (close to the trainstation + walkable to the city centre). Eventhough we had a room with a roadview, the room was well isolated. One minor detail: the bathroom sink is tiny :) Otherwise no real remarks. Would recommend.

This was an amazing stay and everything was perfect. Marlene and Emilie were very warm hosts and helped us out a lot with getting around in the city. Really grateful for that and other things!! The hotel itself is such a comfy and lovely place; would definitely want to visit again <3

The twin bed room is quite big enough, interior design is nice and bright. The bathroom is clean, except there are some rubbish remaining inside the bin when we first check in, but the staff were managed to help to clean immediately upon request. There are lots of kitchen utensils being provided which is convenient for people who planned to cook during the trip, location of the hotel is close to train station except all nearby shops were closed quite early at night, walking back to hotel in dimmed street light is a bit scary but the district seemed safe.

We had a great stay at the Adagio Aparthotel Dampoort. I loved having a kitchen in our room, and there is a large grocery store (Carrefour) about a 5 minute walk away so I could stock up on food. The path along the canal was a great place to walk our dog. Overall, the location is excellent, with great public transit links. The staff is very friendly, and the overall vibe of the hotel is cheerful and upbeat, with a great mix of people staying there. I will definitely stay here again the next time I am in Ghent!

Great hotel. Excellent rooms, very clean, nice vibe in the lobby area with lots of places to sit. Close to train station. About 20 mins walk to city centre. Supermarket nearby.
