The best time is from October to March, when days are warm (20-32°C) and nights cool, with little rain. February and November are especially pleasant, with low humidity and clear skies. Avoid April to June, when temperatures exceed 37°C. The monsoon from late June to September brings heavy rain, especially in July and August, which can disrupt sightseeing.

Stay in the walled city near Hawa Mahal for the palaces and bazaars, or in Civil Lines for a quieter, leafy base with easy access to sights. The Amer Road area works well if you plan to visit Amber Palace early, and it is close to Jal Mahal. For a heritage stay, consider Rambagh Palace on Bhawani Singh Road in Ashok Nagar, or Jai Mahal Palace in Civil Lines.

Amber Palace, the hilltop fort, is the top sight for its grand courtyards and mirror work. Hawa Mahal, the Palace of Winds, is iconic for its honeycomb facade. Nahargarh Fort offers sweeping city and lake views. The City Palace is a living royal complex with museums and galleries. Albert Hall Museum stands out for its Indo-Saracenic architecture and collections.

The full-day tours from Jaipur go to Ranthambore, a national park known for tiger sightings and old ruins. If you stay in the city, Ajmer with the Ajmer Sharif Dargah and Pushkar with its holy lake and Brahma temple are well-known trips. Both are about a day's journey each way.

Plan 3 to 4 days in Jaipur. Two full days cover the main sights: Amber Palace, Hawa Mahal, City Palace, and Nahargarh Fort. A third day lets you add Albert Hall Museum and Jaigarh Fort at a relaxed pace. If you take a day trip like Ranthambore, budget an extra day on top of that.
