My experience with Hostal Dona Carmen was quite nice and comfy. I stayed for 2 nights and didn't use any cleaning services. I was given room 002 next to the elevator on the ground floor. The room was spacious for 2 pax, and I would not have complained at all if they had dim lighting in both the room and the bathroom. The room was well maintained, and its location was exceptional, being only a five-minute walk from the Balcón de Europa and the town center. The receptionist was helpful; however, was somewhat limited due to a lack of proficiency in English. Additionally, it is notable that the main gate closes early, and the room keys also serve as access keys for the gate. I would rate my experience 4.5 out of 5.

Cheap is what you get as what u pay BUT CLEAN which makes a huge difference with my previouos experience in Casarabonela..... And breakfast (spanish) is included. Service is average somwetimes under.... they obvioulsy dunno how to define their priorities.... Very noisy though as corridors are long with many rooms and no sound proof at all. 1 bathroom for 3 bedrooms is ok and they are cleaned couple of times per day. Parking is "scam" very limited and 12€ per night better park outside on the street if u re lucky to find a spot. THe public parking is NEVER free..... and reasonnably expensive for what it is (heard they are cameras etc, did not see one but might be true. It is an exterior parking like on the street no covered space +- 2€ per hour. Free between 22:30 and 8:00am

Awful experience and customer service! My partner and I had to cancel due to a family emergency and notified you on Saturday — well in advance of the scheduled check-in on Wednesday. He received no response until the day of the booking, at which point he was informed the cancellation couldn’t be processed and was charged the full amount. We both fully understand that policies are in place for a reason. However, in this case, he made a clear effort to communicate ahead of time, whilst handling sensitive personal matters and the lack of timely response directly impacted the outcome. It’s completely unreasonable for him to be penalised due to that delay. The charge does not reflect fair practice given the circumstances, and we both believe a resolution is warranted.

I’m really frustrated with how things went with my recent booking. I had to cancel my trip due to an emergency and let you know on Saturday, days before the booking on Wednesday. I didn’t hear back until the day of, and by then I was told the cancellation couldn’t be processed and was charged the full amount.|I understand policies exist, but in this case, I reached out well in advance. It just doesn’t feel right to be charged because of a delayed reply. I hope you’ll reconsider this unfair charge.last-minute communication is unprofessional and unacceptable

My friend and I stayed at Hostal boutique de Carman and couldn’t fault it. The location was perfect, five minutes walk to the beach and a two minute walk to the centre of the town. The rooms were spotless and cleaned daily. The coffee machine was a welcome touch, as were the croissants for breakfast. There is a fridge and free safe in the room. The roof terrace and jacuzzi were also spotless. Great view of the town and sea. Our room had a small balcony overlooking a quiet street. The staff were lovely and very helpful. We will return!

Perfect location central Nerja. Room, bathroom & communal area very clean. Modern decor with very comfortable large bed. Walk in shower very good. |I booked 2 rooms on Booking.com which gave the facility for the hotel to contact me & ask my time of arrival so reception would be manned. They replied within a minute to a further question I asked. I was able to select the exact rooms we wanted, as each is themed. They also have different views.|Coffee machine & a few packets of cakes was a nice touch. There are numerous restaurants within 1 minute walk. The Italian Colosseo is opposite, great fresh Italian food.|In room safe free of charge & empty mini fridge to put your own food & drink in. Supermarket is walking distance.|We stayed one night. Unfortunately it rained so we didn’t get to experience the large hot tub or roof terrace. No outside noise so we slept very well. |There is paid underground parking very close. Free street parking can be found if you walk a few minutes.|A great price in a busy town with lots to do.

Really bad experience and strongly recommend to avoid it. On booking there was an offer for a double bed room from 85 to 51 so I booked it. When I checked my bank account they've charged me 85 so I cancelled it straight away but never recoverd my money. They don't want to collaborate with booking to give me a room or to recover those money. I was explaining them the situation on the front desk and on emails but they don't want to collaborate in any way at all.

Frequently asked questions about Nerja

When is the best time to visit Nerja?

The best time to visit Nerja is from May to June and September to October, when temperatures are warm and rainfall is low. July and August are the hottest and driest months, ideal for beach days but very busy. November through February are the coolest and wettest months, with more rain and fewer visitors. The famous Nerja Cave Festival, held in July, is a well-known cultural event if you visit in summer.

Which area should I stay in in Nerja?

Stay near the Balcón de Europa for the classic seafront promenade and easy access to the old town's shops and restaurants. The Burriana Beach area suits those wanting to be right by the sand, with several featured hotels like Nerja VG Hostal Boutique and Hotel Puerta del Mar. For a quieter, more local feel, the streets around Calle Granada and Calle Ánimas offer a central base within walking distance of everything.

What are the must-see attractions in Nerja?

Start at the Balcón de Europa for sweeping sea views, then explore the Fundación Cueva de Nerja, a vast cave system with impressive formations. Relax on Playa Burriana, the main beach, and stroll through Parque Verano Azul, a seaside park tied to the famous TV series. For nature, hike the Cliffs of Maro-Cerro Gordo for dramatic coastal scenery, and visit the Museum of Nerja to understand the town's history.

What day trips can I take from Nerja?

Full-day tours from Nerja head to the Alpujarras, a scenic mountain region with white villages, and to Granada, where the Alhambra is the main draw. Another tour goes to the Caminito del Rey, a dramatic walkway along cliff faces. If you prefer the coast, a trip to the historic city of Málaga is a well-known option, with its cathedral and Picasso museum. These trips each take a full day, so plan accordingly.

How many days do I need in Nerja?

Plan 2 to 3 days for Nerja. In two days, you can visit the Balcón de Europa, relax at Playa Burriana, and explore the Museum of Nerja. With a third day, add the Fundación Cueva de Nerja and the Cliffs of Maro-Cerro Gordo. If you want to see the Cascada de Maro or the Aqueduct Águila, allow an extra day. A day trip to Frigiliana would need one more day.
