Nice resort with beautiful ocean views, comfortable rooms, and good facilities. The location is great, and the overall stay was enjoyable. However, I was disappointed with a few aspects of the stay. The hair dryer was extremely noisy and had weak airflow, making it inconvenient to use. After using it, my ears felt uncomfortable because of the noise. The room soundproofing was also not very good, as noise from outside and neighboring rooms could be heard quite clearly. I was also surprised by the late check-out fee. Extending the check-out time by just one hour cost ¥6,600, which felt quite expensive.

Sometimes your research doesn’t land you in the right place. That said, the hotel was fine, just not as I was hoping. Wanted a bit more adults, less children and families. The first red flag should have been the huge pool and water slide!😂. Breakfast was a huge buffet and a bit of a wait if you arrived later. Happy hour was nice but large crowds. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. We stay in this location to be close to a local couple but might have preferred something different for our 4 nights in Okinawa.

Overall speaking the stay was great. But we didn't expect waiting half an hour for the hotel buffet breakfast despite we could obviously see empty tables, would appreciate it if the staff could let us know the waiting time during check in. The happy hour session at night was great but super crowded. It could be fun to use the pool facilities if the weather is great.

The staff were generally friendly, especially the Japanese lady at the information desk who went above and beyond to help us. Unfortunately, the non-Japanese male staff member at the information desk was consistently unfriendly. The complimentary nightcap were a nice touch, and the buffet was decent. The pool area was fun, especially the slides and the adult pool section! However, we wouldn’t stay here again. The elevators are far too small and slow, making them crowded. The pool area doesn’t have enough lounge chairs or lazy river tubes, and the beach isn’t on the resort. The biggest issue was cleanliness. The washrooms—including the one in our room—smelled strongly of urine, which made us question the sanitation. We also had to waste time resolving an incorrect room charge at checkout, even though we had already paid. Guest behaviour also made the stay less enjoyable, although that’s not the hotel’s fault. People regularly cut in line, wore swimwear into the restaurant, took our reserved tables, and children were running and screaming early in the morning. Overall, there were too few positives, and too many negative issues for us to return.

The pool has no restrictions on tattoos, which was the main selling point for me. There is a gorgeous adult only area that was quite relaxing. I believe the onsen is still not tattoo friendly, but im perfectly okay with respecting their traditions. The pool has a lazy river. It does not have nearly enough chairs for the guests, but you can pay more for a pagoda, but that was an extra ¥10,000. I personally dont think they should charge that much, but it was nice to have a nice seat and "free" drinks, though its more like conbini drinks for $1, so if you dont drink a lot its not a great deal. I paid about $1000 for 2 nights, but the room i was given is the quality of an okay airport hotel. Not bad at all, but for the price I expect to not have watered down shampoo and conditioner. The AC in the room is not cold at all. I was sweating both nights. The staff is very friendly and overall the service was good, but i will not be returning for an overnight stay, maybe just the pool area.

We stayed at Grand Mercure Okinawa for one week as a family, and while the hotel is large and visually attractive, our overall experience did not meet the expectations we had for this category of hotel. The most noticeable issue was the swimming pool area. There are only about 90 sunbeds in total, and around 10 of them have no umbrellas. After 7:00 a.m., finding a free sunbed becomes very difficult, especially because outside visitors are also allowed to use the pool facilities. On our first day, we were surprised to see some guests sitting or lying on the grass and around the pool because there were not enough available places. The elevators were another major inconvenience, with very long waiting times, particularly in the evening. Communication in English was sometimes difficult, and even the check-in process took longer than expected because of the language barrier. I would like to thank Mr. Joshua at the reception for being very professional and helpful, and the young staff working at the pool restaurant/service area were also friendly, smiling, and easy to communicate with. As a frequent traveler, I felt that the hotel has strong potential, but the management of the pool capacity, elevator organization, English communication, and overall guest comfort would need significant improvement to provide the level of experience many international guests expect.

Unlike many reviews expressing strong dissatisfaction about the property, while we could relate to a few concerns ourselves, it was still visible that Accor is genuinely trying to improve across different areas. We stayed here last week and perhaps due to our Accor tier status, we were allotted a good floor and a well-positioned room. For families, especially those travelling with kids, this resort offers excellent value for money. The outdoor activities, pool areas, and beach access are truly the highlights. The rooms are modern, spacious by Okinawa standards, and refreshingly non-Japanese in layout style. Housekeeping was prompt whenever requested. The water dispenser setup on each floor follows the standard seen across many Accor and international hotel brands, though it would certainly feel more convenient if the rooms included two refillable bottles or pitchers. The absence of a wardrobe felt unusual initially, but luggage management was still workable. Beds were comfortable and the room views added a calming charm to the stay. A slightly enhanced minibar setup, better coffee options, and more tea variants would elevate the experience further. The resort could also greatly benefit from introducing complimentary indoor kids’ activities such as painting sessions, craft corners, or a dedicated indoor kids’ club to match the standards seen in other Asian Accor resorts. Parking space is ample and hassle-free. One important area needing immediate attention is the arrival and departure experience. While self-service trolleys are available for luggage, having a dedicated attendant or concierge outside the lobby would make a meaningful difference, especially for senior citizens and parents travelling with children. That welcoming first impression matters greatly. Staff members were warm overall, though better training regarding amenities, inclusions, and associated charges would help avoid confusion for guests. We would definitely recommend booking well in advance and opting for an all-inclusive package for the best overall value. While the food selection remains somewhat repetitive daily, the wide variety and decent preparation ensure most guests will comfortably find something enjoyable to eat 🙂. Despite a few areas needing refinement, this remains a shining property with strong potential, and with thoughtful improvements, it can truly become one of the standout family resorts in Okinawa Yomitan/Onna belt

My family had a great time here at the Grand Mercure Okinawa Cape Zanpa Resort. The food was great. I couldn't believe the variety and the quality of your buffets. The rooms were huge and newly renovated. The poolside entertainment was a lot of fun for the kids. And we enjoyed the beach side entertainment as well.
