I am writing this review specifically to highlight the amazing service we received from the staff, particularly the assistant front manager, Shunsuke Akiyoshi. Our family is not the most organized and we had last minute issues with third-parties organizing our activities in Okinawa. Mr Akiyoshi helped us make calls, find alternatives and offered solutions to help us have an amazing holiday. The rest of the staff was courteous and helpful, but M. Akiyoshi reminded us that it's amazing service that makes hotel stays memorable. I would recommend this hotel if you want a worry-free stay!

The hotel has a good outlook. The staff are energetic and polite. Some facility is a bit old fashion. The main lighting switches are difficult to find and not obvious. The room is a bit humid and has some small buds from time to time. The breakfast has much less variety than a 5-star hotel and not quite worth for the charge (normally not included in the room rate). Charges for indoor pool and chairs/umbrella on the beach, not within expectation. The hotel has a lot of facilities for children.

Great hotel! I wasn’t with my family but very family oriented with a children’s activity room, a ball pit, and a playground (outside). For those that are older, the MegaZip Zipline (800 feet long) was awesome. You need to pay extra, but they will film using a drone. Glass bottom boat was cool. Saw lots of fish. Even have a pond area in their lobby with a variety of fish. Buffet and off the menu food was delicious! Definitely would stay there again!

## ⭐️ 1/5: Extremely Disappointing – Dated, Overpriced, and Majorly Lacking for Elite Members As a **Lifetime Platinum member**, I stay at a lot of resorts and have realistic expectations. Unfortunately, this property failed on almost every front. It is dated, poorly managed, and feels like a constant exercise in nickel-and-diming the guests. I would never stay here again and highly recommend looking elsewhere. ### 🛑 Terrible Room Layouts & Family Logistics The hotel is visibly dated, but the room layouts are the real issue. They only offer rooms with either one double bed or two twin beds. If you are traveling as a **family of four**, be prepared to book two separate rooms just to accommodate everyone. ### 💸 Constant Nickel-and-Diming & Inconveniences They charge for absolutely everything here, even for paying hotel guests. * **Extra Fees:** They actually try to charge you to use the basketball court and for beach chairs. * **Closed Amenities:** The snack/beach bar was completely closed on weekdays with zero clarity on what their actual hours are. * **Towel Hassle:** Getting beach towels is a chore. Instead of having them readily available, you have to hike out to the activities office or the main pool just to get one. ### ☕ Terrible "Lounge" Experience for Platinum Elite Because this resort lacks a proper executive lounge, they substitute it by using the bar area during specific hours. * The food and snack selection is downright terrible for a resort of this caliber. * If you want coffee, grab it early—they promptly shut off the coffee machine at 6:00 PM, meaning no evening access at all. ### 🚤 Unreasonable Activity Prices (with a Catch) The prices for water sports—boat rides, tubing, and jet skis—are completely astronomical. To make matters worse, if you rent a jet ski, **you aren't even allowed to drive it.** They just give you a ride. Charging premium rental prices for a chauffeured ride is absurd. >**Bottom Line:** Between the outdated facilities, the frustrating room setups, the poor elite recognition, and the constant cash-grabs, this stay was a massive letdown. Save your money and your points—stay somewhere else.

Beautiful family resort in a cute location north of Onna. Wonderfull staff, though Overall the resort seems a bit outdated. Restaurant food unfortunately is average at best, better dont spend money on it. There are food option nearby. Dont expect real recognition of your loyalty status. We visited as a couple with lifetime Gold status on our honeymoon and we got half (!) bottle of wine and free sunbeds LOL😝 If you visit with kids they will enjoy the multiple activities available around the facility (table tennis, board games, handcrafts, VR, free playstation use. Last but not least, better avoid the 50usd snorkelling excursion, you will just end up in a crowded water cave waiting in the water to get some photos and thats about it.

This was my most disappointing hotel/resort stay of 2026. I stayed here a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it—in fact, I liked it so much that I extended my stay by another night. Unfortunately, this visit was a completely different experience. A 4 PM late checkout wasn’t available even though I’m a Platinum member. I had to check out at noon, which was very inconvenient. The biggest disappointment was the executive lounge. There was hardly any proper food available during either afternoon tea or the evening cocktail hours. I didn’t touch any of the food in the lounge, which is extremely rare for me because I usually really enjoy lounge offerings. There was literally nothing appealing to eat. It definitely wasn’t like this during my previous stay, even though they don’t officially market it as a full executive lounge. The main reason I chose this property over the Renaissance was that they don’t charge an extra-person fee on points bookings. But at 90,000 points, I absolutely don’t think it was worth it. The value just wasn’t there, and the whole stay felt like a rip-off compared with my previous experience. One more disappointing aspect was the flooring. It was made of cheap-looking material and was so worn out that it looked and felt poorly maintained. I was traveling with my 12-month-old, and I didn’t feel comfortable letting my baby crawl around on it. For a hotel at this price point, I expected the room to be in much better condition. The only reason I gave 2 stars was because of the one-time complimentary glass-bottom boat ride offered to Platinum members and above. I would strongly discourage staying here. Based on this experience, I would not choose this property again.

We recently stayed at the Sheraton Okinawa Sunmarina Resort during what appeared to be an extremely busy, sold-out period, and overall we had a very enjoyable stay and would happily return. From the beginning, it was clear that the hotel was making a genuine effort to accommodate guest requests despite operating at full capacity. That said, we did have to advocate for ourselves quite a bit to ultimately receive the room and amenities we had requested. At check-in, the hotel had run out of foam pillows, which we requested ahead of time for health reasons, and replacements did not arrive until the following day. We were also initially assigned a room overlooking roofs and air conditioning units despite booking a partial ocean view room and holding Marriott Bonvoy elite status. As a first impression, it felt more like a downgrade than an upgrade. Fortunately, Mr. Shinagawa at the front desk handled our concerns professionally and worked hard to find a solution. Thanks to his efforts, we were moved to a much more appropriate room and were able to enjoy the remainder of our stay. One challenge throughout the stay was breakfast. The restaurant experienced significant lines every morning, with waits sometimes exceeding 20 minutes. This was understandable given the occupancy levels, but it did make for a less relaxing start to the day. Once seated, however, the experience improved considerably. The dining staff were exceptional and went above and beyond to accommodate our dietary restrictions. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine desire to help were among the best we have experienced at any hotel worldwide. The food itself was also very good, with a wide variety of options and consistently high quality. We also dined at Senses in the evenings, and the wait staff there were phenomenal. Every interaction was warm, attentive, and professional, and they consistently went out of their way to ensure we had an enjoyable dining experience. The service culture throughout the resort was impressive, but the team at Senses deserves special recognition. The resort's beachfront is absolutely beautiful and ranks among the best we have encountered in our travels. The beach, views, and overall setting make it easy to understand why this property is so popular. We also enjoyed two treatments at Churaku Spa with Mai Koreeda and Misa Agena, both of whom were wonderful. The spa experience was excellent and a highlight of our stay. Le Ha Dinh in the lounge provided outstanding service and was always welcoming and attentive. The lounge itself was pleasant, though the offerings were fairly modest during happy hour—very light snacks, fountain drinks, and alcoholic beverages. While not one of the more substantial club lounges we have visited, it was still a nice benefit to have at a resort property. As Marriott Platinum members, we also received complimentary access to a glass-bottom boat excursion, which turned out to be a fantastic experience and a memorable perk of staying at the hotel. Overall, what stood out most was the staff's willingness to help. While there were some frustrations early in the stay, particularly with the initial room assignment and a few missed requests, the team consistently demonstrated patience, professionalism, and a sincere desire to make things right. Their efforts did not go unnoticed. Sheraton Okinawa Sunmarina Resort offers a stunning setting, excellent service, and a memorable resort experience. We are grateful for everything the staff did to accommodate our needs and would gladly return on a future visit to Okinawa.

Unacceptable Experience – Completely Ruined Our Family Vacation We booked a stay for a family of 6, expecting a smooth and enjoyable vacation, but were met with terrible management, outdated facilities, and non-existent service. Family Separation & Key Card Nightmare: Despite booking for a family of six, they split us up into two different floors (a double room on the 5th floor and a room for 4 on the 3rd floor). The staff seemed entirely unable to comprehend that separating parents from children during a family holiday is unacceptable, and that young children cannot be left alone on a separate floor. To make matters worse, it took us nearly two hours of frustrating back-and-forth to explain that the room keys only allowed access to our own floor, leaving us unable to even visit our children's room. Even after they supposedly fixed the key cards, they only worked sporadically. Uncomfortable Rooms & Slamming Doors: The double room featured a very small, extremely uncomfortable double bed. Furthermore, the room doors lacked door stoppers, causing them to slam violently during the night and wake up the entire floor. Outdated Facilities & Kindergarten Atmosphere: The hotel looks and feels stuck in the 1980s—everything is dated and worn down. Additionally, the hotel was overflowing with toddlers and infants (ages 0-5), making it feel like a chaotic daycare rather than a relaxing resort. Terrible, Inedible Food: The food across the entire resort was awful and overpriced. We were forced to eat off plastic plates all week like toddlers. The poolside food was completely inedible, and the buffet selection was sparse and poor. Breakfast was almost exclusively Asian (rice, curry, fish, noodles, and soup) with virtually no vegetables. The only "Western" options were dry Belgian waffles and stale, reheated croissants from the day before. Severe Language Barrier: The staff barely understands basic English, making even the simplest issues impossible to resolve without major frustration. Save your money and peace of mind—stay somewhere else. The price is absolutely not worth the value. Highly NOT recommended.
