The best time to visit Phuket is from November to April, when the weather is dry and sunny, with pleasant temperatures. The hottest months are March and April, while September and October are the rainiest, with frequent downpours. May through October is the wet season, but you'll still get plenty of sunshine between showers. For the most comfortable conditions, aim for December through February, when the sea is calm and the beaches are at their best.
Patong suits nightlife and beach access, with hotels like Grand Mercure Phuket Patong. Kata and Karon are quieter, family-friendly beaches, where Kata White Villas and Novotel Phuket Kata Avista Resort and Spa are located. Phuket Town offers old-town charm and local culture, with IHOC - Phuket Oldtown. Nai Harn Beach is relaxed and scenic, with Wyndham Grand Nai Harn Beach Phuket and The Nai Harn.
Phuket Big Buddha is the island's iconic landmark with sweeping views. Karon Viewpoint offers a classic panorama of the Andaman coast. Freedom Beach is a secluded stretch of white sand. showcases Thai culture through a grand stage show. is a lively theme park with a cultural carnival.
From Phuket, you can take full-day boat tours to the Phi Phi Islands, known for Maya Bay and clear snorkeling waters. Another option is Phang Nga Bay, where you can kayak through sea caves and see the James Bond Islands. These trips are popular and well-organized, so you can easily spend a day exploring the Andaman Sea.
Plan 4 to 5 days for Phuket. Spend 2 days on the main sights like Phuket Big Buddha, Karon Viewpoint, and Freedom Beach, plus a day for Phuket Town and Khao Rang Viewpoint. Add an extra day for a day trip to the Phi Phi Islands or Phang Nga Bay. If you want to relax on beaches like Kata or Nai Harn, add another day.
