Frequently asked questions about São Paulo

When is the best time to visit São Paulo?

The best time to visit is from May to September, when rainfall drops to 3-7 days per month and humidity is lower, making days pleasant and mild. April and October are transitional, with more rain but still comfortable temperatures. The rainiest stretch is December through March, with 17-25 rain days monthly and high humidity, though temperatures stay warm. For drier, cooler weather, aim for July and August, the most comfortable months.

Which area should I stay in in São Paulo?

Stay in Jardim Paulista for easy access to Avenida Paulista and the Museum of Art, with hotels like Hotel Emiliano and Renaissance São Paulo. Itaim Bibi suits business travelers and food lovers, near the Berrini district and hotels like Grand Hyatt and Sheraton WTC. Moema is residential and close to Ibirapuera Park, with Pullman Sao Paulo Ibirapuera. Vila Mariana offers a quieter, local feel near the park, with Grand Mercure Sao Paulo Ibirapuera.

What are the must-see attractions in São Paulo?

Ibirapuera Park is the city's main green space, great for a stroll or a bike ride. The Mercado Municipal is a historic market hall where you can try local foods. MASP, with its iconic red building on Paulista Avenue, holds a major art collection. Pinacoteca de São Paulo showcases Brazilian art in a beautiful neoclassical building. Beco do Batman is an open-air street art alley in Vila Madalena.

What day trips can I take from São Paulo?

Full-day tours from São Paulo head to Santos, with its beaches and coffee museum, and to the historic mountain town of Embu das Artes, known for its craft fairs. Another option is the colonial city of Paraty, a coastal town with preserved Portuguese architecture. These trips each take a full day, so plan to return to the city in the evening.

How many days do I need in São Paulo?

Plan four to five days. Three days cover the main sights: Ibirapuera Park, the Mercado Municipal, MASP and Pinacoteca for art, plus Beco do Batman and the Sé Cathedral. A fourth day lets you add the Museum of the Portuguese Language or the Museum of Contemporary Art. A day trip outside the city needs one extra day.

Breakfast is amazing. Lots and lots of options and anything that is missing, you can ask for. Omelettes, cappucinos, they bring it to you. Marcos especially was wonderful! He walked around with a welcoming smile and came to ask if we needed anything else also. He went above and beyond, great service!

Very nice stay at this hotel. Rooms were nice, clean and spacious, beds were small (two single beds) but comfortable. The room feels a bit outdated compared to other hotels especially the washroom. Love the separate dining room for two in a different room. There is a safe, Coffee maker, kettle, ironing board and stoked mini bar in the room. They offer a nice breakfast buffet in the morning on level “L2” from 06h30-10h00. There is also an ATM machine, travel agent, sandwich shop and flower shop in the lobby area. The staff were all super nice, helpful and polite. GOOD JOB! 👏🏻

Overall, a very friendly and pleasant hotel. There were a few minor issues with the room, such as items not being replaced (floor towel, hand towel and coffee supplies), and housekeeping arrived quite late in the day. Despite these small shortcomings, I found it to be a good business hotel and appreciated the really helpful staff and welcoming atmosphere.

Smiles and hospitality…that’s what I was greeted with. I asked if it was ok to have some wine and dessert and I was welcomed as if I was ordering two of everything on the menu. The service was warm, fun, and inviting. Julia, Felix, and Rodrigo made the night memorable! The pudim was exactly what I was craving with a glass of wine! 🙏

The hotel was good, rooms very spacious, though feels old but everything works, the breakfast was amazing. What ticked us off was the super slow checkin process, we reached at 8pm with previous booking and the rooms were not read, then the process itself is just long! The team is good and friendly though.

Great service by bartender Alexandre at the lobbybar. He explained a lot about the different local drinks and beers. He made me a delicious traditional caipirinha and a caju caipirinha. The next time, I would like to try his Rabo do Galo!
