Howard Johnson Hotel Vancouver

The best time to visit Vancouver is from June through September, when temperatures are mild and rain is least frequent, especially in July and August. These months are ideal for outdoor activities like exploring Stanley Park and the Capilano Suspension Bridge. The rainiest stretch runs from November through January, with December seeing the most rain days. Spring and fall are cooler and wetter, but still pleasant for city sightseeing.

Downtown is the most central choice, close to shopping, dining, and the waterfront, with hotels like Fairmont Pacific Rim and Rosewood Hotel Georgia. Yaletown suits those who like a lively, modern neighborhood with restaurants and easy access to the seawall, where you can stay at Level Yaletown or JW Marriott Parq. Granville Island offers a unique, artsy atmosphere with markets and galleries, ideal for a relaxed stay at the Granville Island Hotel.

Stanley Park is a must for its seawall and forest trails. Capilano Suspension Bridge Park offers a thrilling walk above the canyon. Gastown's Steam Clock is a quirky, historic landmark. Canada Place is a striking waterfront icon. Queen Elizabeth Park and VanDusen Botanical Garden are great for gardens and city views.

You can take full-day tours to Whistler, with the Sea to Sky Gondola and Shannon Falls, and to Victoria, including Butchart Gardens and a Gulf Islands cruise. These are the main day trips offered from the city.

Plan for 3 days to cover the main city sights. Use your first day for Stanley Park and the Vancouver Aquarium, the second for the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Gastown, and the third for Canada Place and Queen Elizabeth Park. If you want a day trip to Whistler or Victoria, add an extra day to your stay.
