AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Masnerkopf (2,828 m) is a broad, pyramid-shaped summit in the Samnaun Group above Serfaus in Tyrol, and it doubles as the highest point of the vast Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis ski area. At the top, a purpose-built panorama platform lets visitors take in a 360-degree sweep of the Alpine main ridge without ever having to be a hardened mountaineer.↗↗↗
In winter the lift drops you within metres of the summit; in summer the same platform becomes the reward at the end of a satisfying day hike, with the neighbouring Hexenkopf and the Furgler rising close by and the Ötztal Alps glittering across the distance.↗↗
A viewpoint at the roof of the ski area
The Masnerkopf's claim on a traveller's attention is simple: it is the high point of the whole combined Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis domain, and the summit has been turned into a genuine lookout. The top station of the Masnerkopfbahn chairlift sits just below the true summit, and beside it stands the Panorama Platform M1, an observation deck perched at 2,828 metres that is open around the clock.
