AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Climbing the 90 steps of the Čermákův vrch lookout near the small South Bohemian village of Krátošice is one of the region's best-kept panoramic surprises. At first glance the lattice steel tower reads as just another telecom mast standing over fields, but from its open upper deck a genuinely sweeping circular view opens up across Táborsko and the forested border ranges beyond.↗↗↗
The 20-metre tower sits on a 532-metre summit about 15 km south-east of Tábor and was opened on 5 May 2001, coinciding with a reunion of former villagers. It is free to enter and open year-round around the clock, reached by a short blue-marked footpath from the village. The climb is short, the view is broad, and the tidy summit area below—with a shelter and shaded seating—makes an easy, family-friendly stop rather than a long expedition.↗↗↗
