AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Duboka Bay is a narrow, deep inlet tucked into the coastline just opposite Hvar Town, among the pine-wooded Pakleni islets. It is the kind of place most visitors reach from the water: a calm, sheltered stretch of clear Adriatic sea fringed by trees that run right down to the shore, far quieter than the beach bars of the island's main spots.↗↗
What draws people here is the sense of seclusion rather than any development. There are no built-up facilities ashore, so the bay keeps a raw, natural feel that boat skippers and sailors prize as a swim stop or an anchorage on a hot afternoon.↗↗
A hidden bay in the Pakleni
The Pakleni archipelago is a chain of low, wooded islands and islets lying in the channel just off Hvar Town, a short hop across the water from the old harbour. Duboka Bay is one of its inlets — deep and sheltered, with good natural protection and a shoreline where pine trees come all the way down to meet the sea. Because the water is calm and the setting is unspoilt, it has long been a favourite of skippers looking for a peaceful swim stop on the way around the islands.
