AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Killebergssjö is a small forest lake in Laholm Municipality, deep in the Halland countryside a few kilometres north of the village of Knäred. Barely 0.2 square kilometres in area and ringed by just under two kilometres of shoreline, it sits at 119 metres above sea level on soft ground where pine forest gives way to open bog. There is no road to the water and no developed beach — that quiet, half-hidden character is precisely the point.↗↗
Most visitors reach it on foot, as a pause on the Hallandsleden long-distance trail between Mästocka and Knäred. A hiker writing in Magasin Laholm summed it up perfectly: Killebergssjö is "a lake with no road that leads to it," a place of stone blocks in the trees and stones in the shallows that feels lifted from the Gyllene Tider song "En sten vid en sjö i en skog" — a stone by a lake in a forest.↗
It's a short stop rather than a day's destination, but for anyone walking the southern Halland trail network — or paddling, cycling and fishing the wider Knäred area on the Lagan waterway — Killebergssjö is one of those small, mossy, still-water places that makes the region feel genuinely wild.
