AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Azmak Beach is a long, free-access Aegean shoreline tucked into Urla's Kuşçular district near İzmir, Turkey. Known for its strikingly clear, cold, turquoise water and a gently sloping seabed, it is a magnet for divers, paddleboarders, and anyone who craves an unspoilt natural beach with mountain views and spectacular sunsets.↗↗
Stretching roughly 1,000 metres along a sheltered bay fringed by Azmak Creek on either side, this is a true wild beach — no sunbed lines, no food kiosks, just sand-and-pebble shoreline and exceptionally transparent water that reveals every fish and ripple below the surface.↗↗
What Makes Azmak Beach Special
The water here is a revelation. Fed in part by freshwater springs from Azmak Deresi (Azmak Creek) that meets the sea at both ends of the beach, the temperature runs noticeably cooler than typical Aegean swimming spots. That cold influx also means extraordinary clarity: on a calm day with offshore winds, visitors describe crystal-like visibility that makes snorkelling and free-diving without a boat feel effortless. Fish graze in shallow beds just metres from the shore, and the transparency holds deep into the season.
