This is our second visit to Driftwood Mantaray. It seems to have become more rundown than last year. The larger of the two pools leaks so requires top-ups of water from a hose every couple of days. This does little for the water temperature which is cool, putting it mildly. The small pool is warm if the sun has been out but it's quite limited in size. There is a new Weber bar b q which was good to see as the other one was out of order for the duration of our 16 nights stay. The new one was only working on half the gas element but I was able to fix it being a bar b oficianado. You would have thought the house handy man might have checked it was working. Last year I managed to get one bar b working by getting the best parts from each and putting them into one to get it going. The only equipment for cleaning the bar b was a scotch brite scourer so you can image the state it was in. No paper towels or cleaning brush to be seen. Our apartment looked like it hadn't had a decent clean since last year. The kitchen cupboard handles are still falling off, the top element in the oven doesn't work, the coffee capsule machine leaks, the toilet seat in the bathroom was falling off, the fans are old and noisy, there was a build up of dust behind the bedroom furniture and the upstairs area was totally neglected, dirt, feathers, mason bee mounds, bird droppings, you name it. The outside stairs have tiles missing, the landings are covered in dust and leaves, the pool surrounds were littered with palm fronds, the gardens had a neglected look about them (at least the contractor came and tidied up the street frontage), the speed bump at the entrance is so high that every second car bottoms out on it but no-one gives a stuff. On the positive side, the room service staff were very obliging and the linen and towels changes were first rate. All in all, it seems that it's just too easy to extract money out of unsuspecting on-line bookers without having to present clean, tidy and well maintained facility. I hope the ownership will lift their game to make future guests feel like it's good value for money. I for one won't be back.

My family and I had a great experience at Driftwood-Mantaray. The rooms were exactly as described/pictured online. We appreciated the friendly service, and extra effort in arranging cost-effective airport transfers. Management was responsive to our requests. We had a pleasant stay in a great really central location, very close to shops (including supermarket), restaurants and the beach.

Great location and that was it room was dirty, fans where covered in black dust, dead roaches every where for a room that had been cleaned, tv didn’t work, oven didn’t work, kettle was burnt out, air con didn’t works the pool was gross and had dead bugs and seeds from the trees falling in to don’t think it was cleaned in the 4 days we where there. Had family stay the room beside us and there room was dirty and unclean as well along with other complaints. Save your money and stay elsewhere. We moved after 4 nights my poor daughter was covered in bites from the couch that was apparently new. It was covered in white stains and was definitely not new at all. For the price you pay very disappointing

We stayed 10 nights at Driftwood Mantaray in mid November 2024. We booked the 4 loft apartments as there were 4 families going. . It was great as we were all on the same floor and the doors were only a short distance apart so the kids could go to the other rooms safely. The rooms were clean and functional and were good value for money. As they are privately owned, each room was different from the others with different fittings and decor. The pools aren’t resort standard but neither is the price you are paying for the apartments, but they are adequate . The position of the apartments in Port Douglas is excellent. Everything is a short walk away. We are returning to Port Douglas next year and will be staying there again.

Where do I start? #4 is dark, dirty, run down, in the worst position in the block. It has had so little TLC in the last few years it should not be let out. The main bedroom has two big steps up to the bed which requires a safety rail to stop you falling off as you get out of bed. The laundry is non functional in that the dryer sits so low on the wall the top load washing machine lid opens about two hand spans. The kitchen drains smell so when the apartment is closed up for the day the first thing you have to do is open all the doors. I had to get a broom from the office to sweep the floors as they were not clean on arrival and the ‘broom’ provided not fit for purpose. No cleaning products provided and no offer of a mid service clean for a three week stay. Complaints made to the office twice but no offer of a change out. I never do this and we are still here but have just been kept awake all night by other guests because of the position of this apartment. We have stayed twice before because of the location but are not feeling th love this time at all and will not be back..

We stayed in #17, which was a deluxe, refurbished apartment. We thought it was excellent and good value. All the amenities were really good and the furnishings were very comfortable. The Wi-Fi signal was good enough for streaming internet TV with no problems. We spent a lot of time in the pools, which aren't huge but are very nice. The location couldn't be improved. Would recommend to anyone. (Oct. 2022)

Fantastic location for a holiday, with easy access to the beach, shops, and virtually everything in Port Douglas was walk-able for us. Two pools were nice, and the spas were enjoyable. We stayed in apartment 8, and I thought it was well set out. It could have done with a fan in the bathroom, as that always felt like a sauna. Cooking equipment was interesting - many obscure items and some must-haves missing. Nevertheless, a great, cost-effective experience for a medium group of people. DON'T RELY ON THE WIFI!!! (Had to insert password and username so often I will remember them for quite a while).

Number 14, not great at all unfortunately. We ended up leaving 3 nights into our 7 night stay. It wasn’t cleaned properly, it was dark and dingy. The bathroom/ laundry facilities are rusty and old, the blind was only a shade blind so no privacy at night and one chain didn’t work anyway, had to roll it manually. The photos on the site were certainly not of this apartment. The owners seriously need to give this a facelift. Tom, who runshe complex did his best to accommodate us, but that apartment was absolutely terrible.
