Frequently asked questions about Annecy

When is the best time to visit Annecy?

The best time to visit Annecy is from June to August, when days are warm and sunny, with highs around 25-27°C and the least rain in August. May and September are also pleasant, though wetter. The rainiest months are May and November, each with about 15 rain days. For the driest and most comfortable weather, aim for late summer.

Which area should I stay in in Annecy?

The historic center, around the Palais de l'Île and the canals, suits anyone who wants to be among the sights and restaurants; it's where Le Splendid Hotel and Aparthotel Adagio Annecy Centre are. For lake views and easy strolling, the lakeshore along the Thiou and the Pâquier is quieter, with Rivage Hôtel & Spa and Impérial Palace nearby. The area near the train station is practical for shorter stays, with Novotel Annecy Centre Atria close by. Lake-side neighborhoods like the Marquisats offer a calm, residential feel with Le Pelican.

What are the must-see attractions in Annecy?

Start with Pont des Amours, a charming footbridge with lake and canal views. Stroll through Jardins de l'Europe for the lakeside greenery. Climb to Musée-Château d’Annecy for panoramic views and local history. Visit the Palais de l'Île, a historic prison and museum in the middle of the canal. Then relax at Le Pâquier, a popular lakeside park.

What day trips can I take from Annecy?

The full-day tour from Annecy goes to the Savoie vineyards, where you can visit wineries and taste local wines. For other day trips, well-known options include Geneva, Switzerland, for its lake and international atmosphere, and Chamonix, for views of Mont Blanc. A trip to the medieval town of Yvoire on Lake Geneva is also a classic choice.

How many days do I need in Annecy?

Plan 2 to 3 days for Annecy. Spend the first day on the lake promenade, Pont des Amours, and Palais de I'Île. Use the second day for the Musée-Château and Le Pâquier. Add a third day for the wine tour, or use it to relax in Jardins de l'Europe. A day trip needs an extra day.

The location is ideal if you are doing Old Town. 5 minute walk to most everything and the Imperial Beach is a 20-minute walk. Smaller rooms but fine. Newer clean bathrooms. Lovely little breakfast for 11 euros and the front staff is incredibly nice and helpful. They are here 24 hours a day. |Thank you to Jeff for welcoming us and everyone else at the front desk. We had a lovely stay at the hotel. We arrived by bus, walking distance, easy to find. Excellent location close to the old town, bike hire. Room basic but comfortable, airy, clean. Helpful and welcoming staff. Highly recommend

Rooms are completely different from the photos. I felt deceived. The room was very small and unfortunately not clean. The whole bathroom got wet after you showered. Staff are friendly, though.

Massive palaver finding the parking because of some road closures but once sorted the hotel was perfect - excellent location - good air con which was welcome in the sweltering heatwave and friendly helpful service . We had breakfast one day - standard but perfectly ok. Rooms compact but v pleasant and clean . Hotel was full when we were there but service great throughout

Very conveniently placed for the old town and the railway station. Very comfortable but you might describe the rooms as "bijou". Super friendly staff, Geoff was most helpful and very understanding of two rather grumpy visitors who had fallen to Google Map's tricks. It has a whole section of town that it WILL NOT navigate you to, including the street right outside the hotel, which you absolutely CAN drive to. Ignore the directions and read the map, you'll get there.

I spent five nights here and I was sorry to have to leave, The location is excellent, within easy walking distance of the railway station and the Old Town. My room was quite small but very nice, always clean and with a lovely view. The breakfasts were varied and fresh, with the croissants a particular favourite. I ate breakfast each day at 7 am when it opened and didn’t get hungry again till mid-afternoon. Best of all were the people. All the staff were kind, helpful and friendly throughout. Highly recommended.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The location is excellent and very convenient. The rooms are lovely, cozy, and exceptionally clean. What truly made the experience special, though, was the staff, they are incredibly warm, sincere, and always ready to help. I would definitely recommend this place!🌸💖
