Frequently asked questions about Delhi

When is the best time to visit Delhi?

The best time to visit Delhi is from October to March, when the weather is pleasant and dry, ideal for sightseeing. The hottest months are April through June, with intense heat, while July to September brings heavy monsoon rains. Winter months, especially December and January, can be cool but are still comfortable for exploring. The famous Republic Day parade on January 26 is a well-known event during this period.

Which area should I stay in in Delhi?

For first-time visitors, stay in Central Delhi around Connaught Place or Paharganj for easy access to sights and metro lines. Karol Bagh suits those wanting a lively, local market feel, with hotels like Hotel Sunstar Heritage. South Delhi's Greater Kailash offers a quieter, upscale residential vibe, with Bloom Boutique l GK-1. For a more traditional stay, the area near India Gate and Jai Singh Marg, where New Delhi YMCA Tourist Hostel is, is central and convenient.

What are the must-see attractions in Delhi?

India Gate is the iconic war memorial and a central gathering spot. Red Fort showcases Mughal grandeur with its massive red sandstone walls. Qutb Minar is a towering 12th-century minaret and UNESCO site. Swaminarayan Akshardham impresses with intricate carvings and a spiritual atmosphere. Lodhi Garden offers a peaceful escape among historic tombs and lush lawns.

What day trips can I take from Delhi?

Full-day tours from Delhi go to Agra for the Taj Mahal and Fatehpur Sikri, and to Jaipur for the Amber Fort and City Palace. You can also take a tour to Rishikesh and Haridwar for the Ganges and temples. If you prefer a shorter trip, Mathura and Vrindavan are well-known for their Krishna temples.

How many days do I need in Delhi?

Plan 3 to 4 days for Delhi. In 3 days, you can see India Gate, Red Fort, Qutb Minar, Humayun’s Tomb, and Lodhi Garden, plus a morning at Raj Ghat. Add a fourth day for Swaminarayan Akshardham or the National Zoological Park. If you take a full-day tour outside the city, add one more day.

The rooms were spacious and well maintained but the bed mattress was not comfortable as it had sagged in the middle creating uncomfortable sleep. The restaurant had good variety at buffet breakfast but almost same variety every day Though we received warm welcome at check in, the behaviour of reception staff was rude- the guy refused to arrange for a small water bottle at checkout though we stayed there for four nights. Worse was the guy asking us to go and buy one from their restaurant 😡

The rooms are okay for 4 star. Experience was bad. The room we were given- the toilet was not working ( the flush) at all, had to call reception after using the toilet twice as the toilet was still dysfunctional after the service *** attended to it.Had to change rooms in the middle of the night. Housekeeping was pretty bad, no timely service. Had to call them on day 2. Had to tell them to refill body wash. The only replaced 2 small coffee sachets daily. The only good things was Front office manager Tilak- who helped store our luggage at check out for a few hours and the security guards at the office and gate who provided the best service

Very very bad experience. Hotel.was good. But reception staff was very unprofessional. I remembered that Guy at reception. Named - Himanshu. Very strange man. Aggressive, rude . This was not expected by the hotel staff. He was behaved as he will start the fight . Very arrogant and attitude problems. So. Himanshu man. This is a professional job. Not your home. So you can start fight with your guests. Be professional. And of you not. Than this hotel will suffer because of your attitude problems. I hope you not owned a property. You just an employee

My wife and I stayed in Park Plaza Delhi CBD Hotel for 2 nights during our Golden Triangle Tour by Lumle Holidays. We had a nice and spotless well maintained room on the 7th floor. The staff was very attentive, helpful and friendly. It was incredible dining experience in the hotel restaurant. The food was perfectly prepared with nice presentation. Gunjan, who was our server during breakfasts was very attentive and made great recommendations. Overall it was a great hotel experience. Highly recommend!

Lovly relaxed atmosphere at this hotel. Rooms are nice. Food delicious! From a wide range of choice at the evening buffet to a delightful array for breakfast. Great omlette! Manisha was a tremendous help with breakfast, providing guidance with a smile. Thank you Manisha x Lovely buffet last night, very helpful man whose name we did not collect due to travel fatigue, but he was great. The only negative comment we have is that the location is not ideal for us as first time visitors to Delhi. One way around this may be to offer a shuttle service to the metro.
