This is the second time I have stayed at the VCA, having visited previously in August 2016. My high expectations were certainly not disappointed. The apartment is exceptionally well appointed and decorated. The location is very good, within easy walking distance of the old city centre and the hop on hop off bus stops. Barbara was wonderful again with lots of useful info. She was easily contactable and very helpful in booking airport transfers for us. I would thoroughly recommend.

When you're looking for comfort and convenience, you can't go past staying at Vienna City Apartments. Clean, spacious and very welcoming, it's in the ideal location - walking distance to all major attractions and close to public transport. In fact, the train trip to/from the airport is effortless. The apartment features every modern convenience you could think of, and probably a few more. Hosts were lovely and most helpful. We would definitely stay here again!

Lovely apartments in a lovely old building set in a great location that is just a few stops away from the busy city centre. Just a few minutes’ walk to the tram stop and the underground, the apartments are in a quiet location, away from the crowds of tourists. The apartments were clean and fully equipped. Having complimentary daily cleaning and laundry service with same day return of fresh laundry was a luxury we all appreciated. Our hosts, Alfred and Barbara, were warm, friendly and very helpful, responding to our queries very promptly both before and during our stay. They were ever ready to assist and provided us with useful tips. We love the breakfast place they recommended to us and returned there a number of times as Barbara had arranged a special deal for their guests. We were a large group of 3 families with 6 adults and 5 kids and the 4 suites were just perfect, allowing the adults to have our own en-suites. The kids had the luxury of sharing a bathroom plus a half bath. They also enjoyed the Apple TV and Netflix (and would have enjoyed the Nintendo games had we disclosed where they were kept) and had plenty to keep them occupied when we were not out and about. As we stayed more than 5 nights, Alfred and Barbara also arranged for free one way airport to apartment transfers for us, allowing us to leave our luggage with them whilst we waited for the other guests to check out. They also helped us with our last minute request to arrange transport for our transfer to the train station when we left.

What a wonderful location, just across the road from Schottenring station, we could everywhere quickly and easily. The apartment was perfect, with a mezzaine for our daughter above the kitchen and very comfortable space and bed for us, a perfect place to chillout after our busy days. Barbara was a delight, great explanations of how to get around and some excellent recommendations. We loved the cafe Hansen, in amoungst the flowers for breakfast, we would never have found it otherwise. We would highly recommend these apartments to anyone. They even did our laundry, so appreciated.

Rooms: the room we booked (princes suite) was very well equipped, with every single thing you can think of for a pleasant stay. Kitchen was very well and fully equipped. The room was clean and tidy. Beds were very comfortable. Bathroom was functional and clean. Cleaning was on a daily basis. The place provided free laundry service, basic drinks included in the room free, wine and other drinks (for a fee) and other services. It was very specious suite. Location: Excellent location, just two steps away from the underground station and other trams/buses. Walking distance from many points of interest in Vienna. Quite place, but still central. Hosts: Barbara received us at check-in time. She explained everything about the apartment, showed us around and provided very detailed information on all services provided, site seeing, points of interest, dining, drinking and everything you can think of. She was always available and happy to answer questions. All in all, great place, great location and most of all, great hosts! very much recommended.

We stayed in the Junior Suite apt. It has ample kitchen, bathroom & king bed. Welcome drinks & fruit arrangement were provided. My teen daughter especially enjoyed that laundry service was included. It was great to walk 10-20minutes to all the major sites & shopping districts. Moreover, bring able to use public transport right across the street to Schönbrunn Palace & Zoo. Barbara & Alfred were great in greeting us, orienting us to apartment & the city. We felt welcomed, pampered, & secure in their building.

Barabara and Alfred were there to meet us when we arrived. They gave thorough explanations not only about the apartments but also the entire city and neighborhood. We enjoyed our time over Christmas there very much and followed many of their suggestions. Barbara was even kind enough to find a church for Christmas Eve for us to attend. Laundry was done every day and the apartments cleaned daily. The kitchens are well stocked and we cooked several meals. Overall one is the best apartment rentals I have ever done.

Frequently asked questions about Vienna

When is the best time to visit Vienna?

The best time to visit Vienna is from May to September, when temperatures are mild to warm, ranging from 20°C to 28°C, and rainfall is moderate. June through August are the warmest months, ideal for outdoor cafés and parks, though July and August can feel hot. May and September are pleasant with fewer crowds. The rainiest stretch is May, with 13 rain days, while October and November are cooler and wetter. Winter months are cold and damp, but the Christmas markets are a famous draw.

Which area should I stay in in Vienna?

Stay in Innere Stadt, the historic center, for easy access to St. Stephen's Cathedral, Hofburg, and the State Opera. It suits first-time visitors and those wanting to walk everywhere. Leopoldstadt, across the Danube Canal, offers a more local feel near the Prater and is good for families. For a quieter, residential base, consider Josefstadt or Neubau, close to the MuseumsQuartier and many cafes. Hotels like Hotel Sacher Wien and The Leo Grand are in Innere Stadt, while SO/ Vienna is in Leopoldstadt.

What are the must-see attractions in Vienna?

Schönbrunn Palace is the imperial summer residence with vast gardens. St. Stephen's Cathedral is the Gothic heart of the old town. Belvedere Palace houses Klimt's The Kiss. The Hofburg is the former imperial palace complex. The Kunsthistorisches Museum holds major art collections.

What day trips can I take from Vienna?

Full-day tours from Vienna go to Hallstatt, a lakeside village in the Alps; Salzburg, Mozart's birthplace with a historic old town; Bratislava, Slovakia's capital; Budapest, Hungary's capital on the Danube; and Prague, the Czech capital. Each is a distinct city or scenic area, and tours typically combine sightseeing with travel. If you prefer a shorter trip, consider a day in the Wachau Valley or the Vienna Woods, both well-known nearby destinations.

How many days do I need in Vienna?

Plan 3 to 4 days in Vienna. In 3 days, you can see Schönbrunn Palace, St. Stephen's Cathedral, the Hofburg, and the Belvedere Palace, plus enjoy the Prater and the Vienna State Opera. Add a fourth day to visit the Kunsthistorisches Museum and the MuseumsQuartier. If you want to take a day trip to Hallstatt, Bratislava, or Budapest, plan an extra day.
