AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Sandvika is one of the most quietly lovely stops on the Bamble Coastal Path: a shallow, sheltered cove with a fine sandy beach on the saltwater sea, sitting between Langesund and Rognstranda just a couple of kilometres west of Langesund's centre. Its name literally means "the sandy bay," and visitors rate it as a perfect place to dip in, sunbathe or paddle a kayak in the calm water.↗↗↗
What makes it special is how easily it combines a seaside swim with real hiking. The marked Kyststien passes right by, a short 0.9 km summer trail runs closer to the sea between Jypleviktangen and Sandvika, and the whole stretch sits inside the Gea Norvegica UNESCO Global Geopark, where calcareous bedrock gives the coast an unusually rich flora. It is an easy, family-friendly outing that still feels like the authentic Norwegian archipelago coast.↗↗↗
