We just got really bad service at reception. When check-in, they took full payment for the room without cross-referencing on the booking website, which means we got double-charged. We figured out this issue an hour later after check-in, and we went downstairs to bring this concern to the same receptionist. We got a straight-up answer, “We don’t have the money from booking.” After we showed the receipt, she checked on the computer for 5 mins and found the money had been paid by booking. And without a simple explanation and apology, she told us we would get our money back at check-out. And even worse, after I told her this was a bad experience, is there any compensation they can do, like any coupon for some services here? I got a straight-up answer, “No, we don’t have a coupon.” My wife has been housekeeping for many years, we know how hard people work at hotels. We normally don’t like to write a bad review, so I still give it 3 stars. Btw The hotel is nice, and the room and bed are really comfortable.
Response from the property
Dear Valuable Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the confusion and inconvenience you experienced during check-in, and we are sorry that the situation was not handled with the level of care and communication you deserved.
We would like to clarify that your reservation was originally showing in our system as a direct-payment booking. The payment method on Booking.com was changed only a few hours before your arrival, and unfortunately this update was not immediately reflected in the information available to our Front Office team at the time of check-in. As a result, the pre-authorization was processed directly at the hotel.
We fully understand your concern and sincerely regret the inconvenience this caused. We are also sorry that, when you brought the matter to our attention, you did not receive an immediate and appropriate explanation and apology.
We would also like to clarify that credit card pre-authorization at check-in is a standard hotel procedure. It is not an additional charge, but a temporary authorization used to guarantee the stay and cover any incidental expenses.
We are pleased to know that you are enjoying our hotel, particularly your room and the comfort of our beds, and we truly appreciate your kind words about our team and the work carried out by our staff.
As you are still staying with us, we sincerely hope to have the opportunity to make the remainder of your stay as pleasant as possible and to restore your confidence in our service.
Kind regards,
Yuliya Babyuk
Front Office Supervisor
