Eira offers a quieter, residential feel with Lapland Hotels Bulevardi, while Hakaniemi is lively and has Hilton Helsinki Strand, close to local markets.

Start at Senate Square and Helsinki Cathedral for the city's grand neoclassical heart. Walk to the nearby Market Square for harbor views and the Uspenski Cathedral on its hill. Take the ferry to Suomenlinna, a sea fortress spread across islands. Stroll Esplanadi for a green break, and see the Sibelius Monument in its park.

Day trips from Helsinki go to Tallinn by ferry, a compact capital with a medieval old town and good walking. Another option is a national park just outside the city, where you can hike and, on some tours, try a smoke sauna and a campfire lunch. These are the main full-day excursions offered from Helsinki. If you want a day on the water instead, the city also runs combined tours covering Helsinki and Suomenlinna, but that stays within the city itself. Confident.
