Cupecoy Beach
Cupecoy Beach is the most dramatic shoreline on Sint Maarten's Dutch side — a series of small, sheltered coves nestled beneath wind- and wave-carved ochre sandstone cliffs at the island's western tip. Known for its ever-changing sand, golden-hour light and some of the finest sunsets in the Caribbean, it draws couples, photographers and travelers seeking something quieter and wilder than the island's wide resort beaches. Just a few minutes from the airport and a stone's throw from the open French border, Cupecoy pairs naturally with nearby Mullet Bay, the Maho restaurant scene and the polished marina village of Porto Cupecoy above. It is not a typical beach day — the coves shift with the swell, the access is down cliff steps, and the atmosphere is more adult and private than anything else on this coast.
